Energy Web Token

A global nonprofit accelerating the low-carbon, customer-centric energy transition by unleashing the potential of opensource digital tech

Project Introduction:

Energy Web is accelerating a low-carbon, customer-centric electricity system by enabling any energy asset owned by any customer to participate in any energy market. To do so, Energy Web develops and deploys open-source decentralized technologies—the Energy Web Decentralized Operating System (EW-DOS)—with their global community of more than 100 energy market participants.

EW-DOS includes front-end applications and a variety of software development toolkits focused on decentralized identities, renewable energy markets, and grid integration of distributed energy resources. It's all anchored by the Energy Web Chain, the first open-source, enterprise blockchain platform tailored to the energy sector.

Key Features And Highlights:

Energy Web Switchboard: EW Switchboard is a first-of-its-kind open-source identity and access management (IAM) tool for users, assets, and application developers in today’s growing self-sovereign approach to digital solutions. Switchboard leverages SSIs, DIDs, and VCs for authentication, authorization, and accounting.

Energy Web ZERO: EW Zero is an open-source app that enables any renewable energy buyer to find and source procurement options from across a wide variety of digital marketplaces globally. Zero integrates myriad marketplaces—including those built with EW Origin—through a single, convenient, digital interface.

Energy Web Origin: The EW Origin suite of SDKs supports existing and emerging renewable energy and carbon markets to simplify and enhance the issuance, tracking, and buying/selling of energy attribute certificates (EACs), including renewable energy certificates (RECs), guarantees of origin (GOs), and international I-RECs.

Energy Web Flex: The EW Flex suite of SDKs enables grid operators—including vertically integrated utilities, distribution system operators (DSOs), and transmission system operators (TSOs)—to integrate distributed energy resources (DERs) into energy markets and demand flexibility programs.

Energy Web Chain: The Energy Web Chain is a public, enterprise-grade blockchain platform specifically designed for the energy sector’s regulatory, operational, and market needs. Launched in mid-2019, it has become the industry’s leading choice as the foundational digital infrastructure on which to build and run dApps.
